-Please tell us how you implemented My Site Translation Premium.
The " Japan RAIL & TRAVEL " website was launched as an English website, but we received a request from a sponsor company to provide information in multiple languages to promote globalization, and we were looking for an automatic website translation service that could handle Chinese and Korean, which account for a high percentage of visitors to Japan.
My Site Translation Premium is a paid optional service in which a staff member in charge of each language at Kodensha visually checks and corrects the results of the translation quality check → automatic translation.

-Were there any other services that you were comparing?
We compared three automatic translation services and decided to use " My Site Translation Premium" because it matched our budget in terms of cost and because of its translation quality check.
One of the services we compared was less expensive but did not offer translation quality checks, and the other was not in our budget.
-It is true that many other services offer only machine translation.
Introduction of My Site Translation Premium
-How easy was it to implement?
The implementation of the system on our site was easy. We were able to leave all the translation quality checks (* ) to Kodensha, and they were able to respond as needed.

-What was your customer's reaction after the introduction?
Since the site was created in English, there were many visitors from English-speaking countries. In December2019, about three months before the introduction of " My Site Translation Premium," we received a link from JAPAN RAIL PASS, and access from overseas doubled in January2020. The largest number of accesses at that time was from the U.S. Other than that, accesses from Hong Kong, the U.K., China, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, and Australia were growing, but the acceptance of foreign visitors to Japan stopped in March2020. It was unfortunate because the timing was such that the number of accesses would grow even more from now on.
Please tell us about an episode in which you were glad you chose My Site Translation.
In 2019, when we were considering the introduction of automatic translation, it was a time when a certain transportation operator's website displayed the names of routes and stations with mistranslations, which became a hot topic mainly on social networking sites. I chose the translation quality check because it was an attractive and appreciated feature, as I was very careful to ensure that not only station and line names, but also train names were not mistranslated.

We plan to restart the service in FY2023!
-What are your plans for the future?
In the Corona Disaster, updating of the site had been suspended since 2021, but now that we have started accepting foreign visitors to Japan, we would like to start working on resuming the site. I believe that Japan RAIL & TRAVEL is currently the only website that provides train information in multiple languages across the country. I believe that traveling by train is one of the most attractive aspects of Japan from the point of view of foreigners. We would like to become a site that can convey this attraction.
