We asked the company about how they came to introduce the system and what they thought of it.
1. How My Site Translation Premium was introduced
-First of all, please tell us how your company came to introduce the automatic translation service.

Yes, the background behind the introduction of automatic translation is our management strategy with an eye on the global market. We also sell products using traditional Japanese textiles, and especially with the recent depreciation of the yen, we felt the need to strengthen our language support as we aim to expand sales with overseas customers in mind.

2. Challenges before introducing automatic translation service
-What were some of the difficulties you faced before introducing the service?

The biggest challenge was that we did not have enough staff who could speak English. It was difficult for us to smoothly handle inquiries from foreign customers and explain our products to them. The language barrier was a major obstacle, especially since our products were a bit complicated to explain and we often wanted to communicate clearly to our customers. It also took a lot of time and cost to translate our product pages and catalogs for foreign customers.
-We had a hard time dealing with that. The inability to respond quickly to overseas markets is certainly a major challenge.
3. Many accesses from foreign countries! Results after the introduction of the service
-What are some of the new achievements and challenges that have arisen as a result of the new multilingual support?

Since we have just introduced the system, we have not seen any major results yet, but we feel that it was a great achievement to discover that our products were being viewed in foreign languages immediately after the introduction of the system. Specifically, we believe that access from Singapore and Taiwan will have a synergistic effect that will lead to inbound purchases at real stores. Also, access from Germany was a surprise.
Immediately after the multilingualization, we received a series of inquiries from the U.S., and we are happy that they led to sales through Buyee. We look forward to further sales in the future.

-What are your thoughts on future development?

We would like to further strengthen our multilingual support in the future. Currently, we support English and Chinese, but we would like to add other languages and deliver our products to more countries. We would also like to expand our marketing activities using social networking services and online stores to increase our points of contact with overseas customers. Our goal is to make our real stores more accessible to foreign tourists as well.
